I utilize an eclectic therapeutic approach, meaning I combine various types of therapeutic approaches in therapy. Which approaches I use with each client will depend on the individual client and their specific needs.
Person-Centered Therapy is a type of talk therapy that emphasizes the client being the leader of change. My role is to help encourage you to explore your own feelings, experiences, and beliefs in a nonjudgemental space, while trusting your own innate ability to learn, grow, and heal. My job is to guide, and you are the expert on you.
CBT - Cognitive Behavior Therapy is a type of talk therapy that believes that the way that we think about a situation influences how we feel and behave. CBT is a way to learn alternate ways of thinking, managing negative self-talk and core beliefs in a way that is more beneficial for our mental health and helps us function and regulate through difficult situations.
Attachment Theory Approach incorporates your early childhood attachment into consideration when learning and understanding who you are today, particularly in how you tend to attach to others in relationship. I use this approach to understand how your past has impacted who you are today, and I then help you to re-learn how to seek secure attachments within your interpersonal relationships, when needed.
EMDR - I am trained in EMDR which is Eye Movement De-Sensitization and Reprocessing is a type of therapy that is different from typical talk therapy. This type of therapy is specifically utilized for PTSD and trauma, but can also be utilized to address many types of concerns. EMDR utilizes bilateral stimulation guided by eye movements to help your brain reprocess traumatic memories in a safe environment, in an effort to desensitize the emotional intensity of the memory, which can reduce the frequency and intensity of triggering events.
